With National Nuclear Laboratory
Robotised laser cutting and dismantling offers the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) and Sellafield significant benefits in their ambitious long-term decommissioning programme with improved safety and increased efficiency when compared to traditional manual mechanical retrieval and removal techniques.
With Spirit Aerosystems
You will have an interest in using ultrasound to image the internal structure of engineering materials, to identify critical defects. Areas for the research will include ultrasonic measurement and propagation studies (including computer modelling), signal processing, image processing, machine learning, as well as automating measurements using advanced robotic systems.
With Spirit Aerosystems
This is an exciting 48-month fully funded EngD, supported by EPSRC and the Spirit AeroSystems, the world’s largest composite manufacturer, with a generous top-up of £5,000 a year focused on in-process automated inspection of carbon fibre composite components using different acoustic, electromagnetic, and thermal NDE modalities.
NMIS and Spirit Aerosystems
This is an exciting 42-month fully funded PhD position supported by EPSRC, Spirit AeroSystems, the world’s largest composite manufacturer, and National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS). The project has an enhanced student stipend and pays for a full Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) training package offered through Future Innovation in Non-destructive Evaluation Centre for Doctroral Training (FIND CDT)
